What surahs should we recite when we sleep?

                   Surah Al-Mulk (67th Chapter of the Quran)


Surah Al-Mulk, also known as "The Sovereignty" or "The Kingdom," is highly recommended to be recited before sleeping. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "There is a Surah in the Quran which contains thirty Ayat which kept interceding for a man until his sins are forgiven. This Surah is 'Blessed is He in Whose Hand is the dominion' (Surah Al-Mulk)".

Some speacial Surahs to Recite Before Sleeping

1. Surah Al-Ikhlas (112th Chapter of the Quran):

Reciting Surah Al-Ikhlas before sleeping is a Sunnah. It is a declaration of the oneness of Allah and offers immense rewards. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "By Him in Whose Hand my soul is, it is equal to one-third of the Quran".


2. Surah Al-Falaq (113th Chapter of the Quran) and Surah An-Nas (114th Chapter of the Quran):

These two Surahs, known as Al-Mu'awwidhatayn, are recited for protection against all forms of evil. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to recite these Surahs before sleeping and blow over his body.


3. Ayat Al-Kursi (Verse 255 of Surah Al-Baqarah):

Ayat Al-Kursi is known for its protective qualities. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "Whoever recites Ayat Al-Kursi before sleeping, Allah will appoint a guardian for him who will stay with him and protect him all night long"


Benefits of Reciting Surah Al-Mulk

1. Protection from the Punishment of the Grave:

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "Surah Al-Mulk is the protector from the torment of the grave".


2. Intercession on the Day of Judgment:

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah(RA) that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "A Surah from the Quran containing thirty verses will intercede for a man so that he will be forgiven. It is the Surah Tabarak Alladhi bi yadihi-l-mulk [i.e., Surah Al-Mulk]". This Hadith highlights the Surah's role in interceding for its reciter on the Day of Judgment. Surah Al-Mulk will intercede for its reciter on the Day of Judgment until they are forgiven. This intercession is a significant benefit, emphasizing the Surah's importance.


3. Increase in Sustenance:

Regular recitation of Surah Al-Mulk is believed to bring about financial stability and abundance. It is often referred to as the "Surah of Wealth" due to its impact on one's financial well-being.


4. Spiritual Benefits:

Surah Al-Mulk provides spiritual solace and strengthens one's faith in the Day of Judgment. It reminds believers of the afterlife and Allah's ultimate judgment, encouraging them to lead righteous lives.


5.  Regular Recitation:

At the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), the companions used to call it "Al-Maani'ah" (that which protects). An-Nasa’i narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "In the Book of Allah, it is a Surah which, whoever recites it every night has done very well".
